For any of these recipes, try using green tea as a base. Green tea is filled with inflammation-fighting antioxidants.
1. Chocolate Raspberry ENERGIZING Smoothie
The secret ingredient in my new go-to shake is…..green tea! Here’s a little secret about me…green tea is my no-penalty pleasure. Not only does its natural caffeine levels speed up your heart rate, but a new study by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that due to the EGEC levels in green tea, drinking four cups of green tea a day helped participants lose six pounds in 8 weeks.
1 serving chocolate protein powder (I recommend Kathy Smith Protein Shake)
1/2 C. frozen raspberries
1/4 avocado
1 Tbsp Barlean’s omega-3 pomegranate swirl
Handful of ice
Directions:
Steep green tea, then chill. Place in protein powder, raspberries, avocado, pomegranate swirl, and ice. Blend for 30 seconds and enjoy
2. Mixed Berry Maqui Berry Protein Shake
The maqui in this protein shake is called a “superberry” because of the wonders it works for skin, hair and nails. Plus, the added chia seeds are rich in omega 3s (almost 5 grams per 1 oz serving!) which reduces inflammation and promotes cell membrane health. Also, strawberries have more anti-aging Vitamin C than oranges and grapefruit! People who eat food high in vitamin C have fewer wrinkles and age-related dry skin than those who don’t.
3. Kiwi Mint Coconut Smoothie
This smoothie is a must-try because the mint and kale are anti-inflammatory ingredients. Kale also increases skin’s elasticity and hydration. Coconut is “rich in antioxidants, which are nutrients that help remove free radicals caused by outside stressors that may damage your skin, such as sun and pollution,” says Dr. Frank Lipman
1 serving vanilla protein powder (I recommend the Kathy Smith Protein Shake)
1 cup shredded kale
1/4 cup fresh mint
Juice of one lime
1 small box coconut water (11 oz)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
4 ice cubes
Directions: Place ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
4. Apricot Dream Protein Shake
