How Cardamom Helps Reduce Gut Inflammation

A staple in Middle Eastern cooking, cardamom adds spice to your shake while adding in iron, fiber, and potassium. Although it’s typically used in savory curries, it’s also commonly used to add flavor to baked apples. In a recent interview I recorded with Dr. Alan Christianson, he called it an underutilized superfood, because its been known to help reduce gut inflammation.

A healthy gut is key to your overall health. When the bacteria in the gut is out of balance, it can lead to a whole host of issues…from lower energy levels, to slower metabolism, and even an increased risk of heart disease, obesity, asthma and cancer.

An inflamed our out-of-balance gut is like a section of a forest that has recently had its trees chopped down…it is no longer able to feed and shelter animals that once thrived there. The truth is, when you’re good to the gut, then the gut is good to you!
